Paintings, sculpture and music

A private gallery

As a child, I loved visiting my maternal grandparents and it was not just for the many treats my siblings and I were spoilt with.

My grandmother would greet us warmly at the front door, while my grandfather would most likely be in the library come music room, more often than not playing a piece by Chopin (his favourite composer) on his beautiful baby grand piano. He was a brilliant pianist.

Their home was filled with a wonderful array of paintings, sculptures, photographs and other artworks. On every visit, I found myself captivated by my surroundings.

My parents were also great lovers and collectors of art. Their home was fairly bursting with treasures and resembled a private gallery. So much so I think they could have justifiably charged for admission.

Perhaps in my case a great passion and love of art is housed in my genes.
